Horrible grinding feeling when braking hard

Hi everyone. I've had my 07 Si Sedan for about 2-3 months now, and only recently have I been noticing the "strange" to me feeling when breaking really hard.

How is ABS supposed to feel? Is it just a smooth "pump back" response on the brake pedal when its activated?

This weird "grinding" only occurs when I brake really hard, otherwise braking feels normal. Could it possibly be a broken brake pad?

ABS. The Si's is quite sensitive; mine does it too.

Your brakes open and close so quickly when ABS is engaging that it feels like grinding.

From what you've said I'm 99.9999% sure it's your ABS. If you're still concerned I would take it to the dealership, there is only so much diagnosing we can do over the net.

Good luck!

My car has since been traded but I too had a very severe grinding which was not ABS. It got so bad that when I braked passengers could here it clearly.

I did not even get them fixed as I knew I was trading shortly thereafter.

Funny thing as both front rotors were in decent condition with no major grooves etc.

Sounds like ABS especially the "under hard braking" phrase.

However...I can't necessarily rule out a cracked brake pad though....
