Passenger Side Door Lock Squeaking?

Well it started a few weeks ago. I noticed mainly when I would turn my car off that a squeaking noise would come from the passenger side of the car. I didn't know where it was coming from at first but then I tried to narrow it down and have pretty much come to the conclusion it is the door lock mechanism in the passenger side door.

I am almost positive it is related to the passenger side door lock because even if I don't turn the car off and instead I just hit the unlock button it will occasionally make the noise.

The noise seems to come and go, and I haven't really been able to determine when and why it happens (maybe temperature?). And I haven't had the time to pop off the door panel to take a look at the locking mechanism to try and lubricate it or do whatever it takes to eliminate the annoying squeak.

I am just interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar noise/ problem before I pop the door panel off to attend to it. If so what was done to eliminate the squeaking noise?

Thanks for any input or help in advance.

-Dave

I have the exact same problem.

I can't get it to do it constantly and I'm not about to take it in again for a rattle/squeak that disappears, because they already think I'm crazy.

That, and I can't be sure its the door lock, but its that area.

Yeah I myself have already had my car back at the dealer for another rattle they finally took car of after 4 or 5 visits.

Passenger side kick panel rattle

I don't have the time or energy to drive all the way to my dealer to have them not hear anything or not find out what is causing the squeak I am getting so I am most likely gonna pop off the door panel hopefully this coming weekend and try and figure it out. I am almost positive it is the door lock mechanism because the only time it makes the noise is when I turn the car off and the doors unlock automatically or when I hit the unlock button while the car is running.

Hmm so maybe it isn't just a problem I am having. I didn't have any time this weekend but after my midterms this week i should have some free time to figure this out.

i've had this problem with my car since new. about 1/5 times i lock all the doors (engine off) the passenger front door lock will go "wreeee" or sometimes a short "wree" or sometimes even a long "wreeeoooooooo".

it doesn't really bother me too much, at the moment my main problem is the steering reel (?) needs to be replaced with a part from japan, should be delivered in about 2 weeks...

My drivers side started making the noise (the long "wreeeoooooooo") about a month ago. It does it about 3 out of 5 times. I don't like it ;(

Yup. I have the same issue. At first, I thought it was something with my brakes. Then, it started happening when I unlocked the doors with the car turned off. It doesn't happen all the time but I will get it checked the next time I am at the dealer's.

Hmm, so I'm not the only one.

Uggghhh so much work for school otherwise I would have already popped the door panel and looked into this.

I will keep this thread updated with anything I may find out when I get around to popping the door panel off.

My rattles are still just as present, but I haven't heard the door unlocking squeak sound in a few weeks. Let's keep it that way.

Mine does that after a good rain or a wash--which means it does it often. The cold weather seems to have lengthened the squeaky sound....

I assumed it was the locking servo. If anyone can come up with a diagram, I'd be willing to bet there's a rubberized wheel or something that is slipping on the locking mechanism.

It doesn't really bother me, but then I've always had vehicles with "character".

That's the "fine" way of saying I've always driven a POS.

Bump!

Did anyone get this resolved? I've had it for about 3 months now, but I haven't had time to get it checked out.
