You crossed the limit buddy. I know it shows the redline clearly as 8000 on your tach, but don't let those Honda engineers full you--it's 7.2k. And since you're 300 RPM over you can expect your pistons to have hairline cracks. Unfortunately you won't notice them immediately, but in about a year or so your engine will give out. The ECU has also permanently recorded your abuse (short of replacing it with a new one, of course), so if you ever take it to the dealership you're not going to get any warranty backing.

Actually, this "could" be bad...
Depending how quick he let off the clutch, jumping that high and quick in the RPMs "could" damage something. But most likely nothing happened dude. Since everyone else left sarcastic posts, I can't... ********. |

If this is the case you better not strap your car down to a dyno; talk about torque flex and twisting the motor mounts. Those of us who go F\I should look into the weak motor mounts. Would you say it's the metal the mounts are constructed of or the factory rubber isolators? Is there a thread that this was discussed in? Or any independant tests that were performed? I'm not being sarcastic, I just want to read more about it. Thanks |

I've been building honda's since the mid 80's it's happened to me before, much more extreme then your case. Let me know the outcome. Last edited by F-1 Si; 10-07-2007 at 10:15 PM. Reason: . |

Your engine is just fine but downshifting to 7.5 like that without rev matching will be rough on the rest of your drivetrain. Be sure to rev match! Your transmission will thank you and it's gratifying. Once you master it you can move on to heel toe.
