Here is a stupid question but what kind of hydraulic lifts is everyone using to lift your civics with? The one that goes under the frame or the ones that you just drive onto??

I use both. The drive on for alinments, obviously. And a Rotary for all other work.

And the Tranny takes 1.6 to 1.8 quarts. I used exactly 1.8 quarts of 10W30 Royal Purple. Never shifted better.

Great stuff always David.

One thing I'd suggest is to move the "TLDR(Too Long, Didn't Read):" section to the top.
Hehehe. That way, I dont have to actually read through this stuff and then find it the short version pun intended.

This 2nd and 3rd gear pop out/grind, is starting to make me say screw Honda. My mother works for Infiniti. I talked to the Service Supervisor and asked him what they would do if this was there problem. Because at Infiniti you are treated like royalty. He said that they would've test drove the car in different situations and would've recorded info. To detect the problem. He also stated Honda knows there is a problem with the tranny on the SI. Think about it folks at first there were 50 million commercials with the SI and the whole Civicnation jock itch. Honda is preparing themselves for a real financial crunch. If this transmission problem caused an accident or injured someone Honda would go bankrupt. Toyota took a name crunch and they are not considered one of the top car manufactors anymore.... Honda does not want that, its a power struggle type of thing. My friend owned an FG2 and and somehow it allowed him to shift 2nd gear at 120 mph at the track. It is suppose to lock you out. It didn't Honda payed for a nice chunk of his repairs including engine and tranny because they were *&@!ed up. Look at what they are doing they are giving us just enough to keep quite about the not being reliable anymore. Honda has gotten the big head and thinks there $&#? does not stink, and we the consumer has allowed it to happen. I own a certified FG2 and have problems some of u guys own brand new ones and has this problem since day one. There certification blows as far as I'm concerned. I know this probably will start a flame war on this thread but this is just MY OPINION. Just sit back and think about some of the shady things that Hoda is doing replacing tranny fluid to crutch there &@#$ up. That's pathetic and a real bitch move if u ask me... THIS IS JUST MY OPINION... KEEP IN MIND...

^^ wow.

The long and the short of it is that Honda is in the business of making money. Money is the deciding factor behind every decision--not safety or reliability.

Yes, I curse the gear box on a daily basis. But I have found a new shifting style that works and I'm ready to pop some Amsoil in when we get a warm day. But I just love this Si. I'm gonna drive it until the wheels fall off.

Get two from AMSOIL - Synthetic Oil, Motor and Engine Oil, Lubricants, Air Filters, Oil Filters and Greases and also read this sticky: DIY: Changing Manual Transmission Fluid.

Same symptoms as everyone else. Grinding popping out etc. I took it to the dealer I bought it at and they gave me the run around and pissed me off bad, I took it to another dealer and within 2 hours they called me and told me they were replacing the trans.
I'm still so pissed at the other dealer, they had my car for days and one of the techs put 60 miles on it and "couldnt find anything wrong".

I still have some suspension noise that needs to be fixed, one thing at a time.

A grinding transmission is not going to cause an accident, just some pissed off customers. Also, Honda is not going to go bankrupt over one lawsuit. And no, speed lock-out isn't very common, you can try it in just about every car. You are a tool.

I'd love to see Honda have to pay out the ass for every RSX, Accord, S2K, and Si that's had this problem.

It doesn't seem like the repair is going to be a cheap fix...
