Pulled a CEL

Guys,

I filled up with Marathon this morning and pulled a cell moments later. I also recently switched from a DC race header to a Random Tech cat without removing the defouler.

I'm beginning to think it is not the gas but the fact that I did not remove the defouler. Is it possible that the sensor is not getting enough air to read properly?

Any thoughts?

Nah, I'm not going to spend money before I remove the defouler and disconnect/reconnect the battery. I just wanted some input to see what the probability of this being the cause was. Thanks.

no need to spend money. i think auto zone will let you borrow a scanner and get the codes. if you dont have an autozone near you, go throw a mechanic $5 to plug his scanner in. it takes 2 minutes.

You are planning to go all motor, buy the tools you need.
If you haven't already got a FSM, get one.
And a ScanGauge II only costs $169.

It's like you are working on your car with a crescent wrench.

(And check if there's a CHECK FUEL CAP message on the information display.)

Probably a silly question, but you clicked the gas cap all the way right?

^LOL, I would be pretty embarrassed if that was the problem. Geez, wasting all of your time because I did not screw on the gas cap all the way. I'll check it when I leave work and report later today.

Oh whoops, didn't notice someone posted the gas cap thing before me, my bad

P.S. It might say something about the Evap system.

Guys you were right! But keep reading!

I clicked the gas cap and disconnected the battery and then reconnected and something magical happened!

I freaking swear I gained 10HP by just reseting the ECU. So I'm thinking it's a fluke or that it will go away right. I drive for 30 minutes and stop and restart the car, SAME POWER! I did that 3 times and it still runs like butter and all of the shifts are perfect.

For those of you thinking that it is psycho somatic I am telling you it is NOT!

Remember I switched to the RT AJP cat from a DC race header and I think the ECU had to be reset for it to adjust to the new mod. Now I have a ton more low end torque too! I'm not really sure why it shifts better, but it does almost perfectly.

All because of a gas cap and your help! If you do a mod I highly recommend reseting the ECU guys!

I'm in love all over again! Hot Damn!
