IMO, the best way to break a Honda engine is this... Do not take long trips over 1 hr on the highway and stay at the same RPM. DO drive hard, but not over and over again, take the car on a good curvy road and use all of the RPM band. DO NOT put a lot of load on the car at low RPM's, as this is very hard on a new or old engine. I honestly have VERY rarely gotten in my car to go anywhere, and not hit redline. I also make sure to change oil with Honda Synthetic every 5-7k. My engine works like a charm, gets GREAT fuel mileage (Even when I beat on it).

Except don't use complete Full throttle and the last part - use any good oil dino or synthetic and follow the OLM. I prefere synthetic but I'm an over do things.

I have pushed it a few times and raced two other cars (pushing the engine to red line). I have 1930 miles on it. The Honda dealership told me that the engine was ready broken in from the factory but i dont know if that is true. i dont want to hurt my engine. Also i didnot push the car till i was at 1000 miles. So am i ok or should i wait a little longger before i have more fun with the civic?

Thanks
Dude you are good. 600 is "factory break-in" and 100 miles is "engineer break-in", I would suggest you change out your oil.

I'd change royal purple every 2k.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Honda oil a conventional Group II oil with a certain percentage of Group III as an additive? As far as I know, the only "Honda Synthetic" is the Mobil 1 0W-20 that is recommended exclusively for the Acura RDX Turbo.

You might as well stand over your drain pan and rip up twenty dollar bills. The end result will be the same.
