Question valve noise at idle from a K20, Si

Okay,

I know its probably nothing just still have to ask. How loud can you guys hear the valvetrain when the car is fully warmed and at idle. I hear it quite clearly outside. a light taping or clicking sound at idle. its been like this for as long as i can remember, and i have almost 50,000Kms on my 06 Si, used fully synthetic from day1, Mobil 1 for about 35,000kms, and lately 0w30 Made in Germany SYNTEC.

Cheers,

Ankur

Pretty damn loud. At least in my case... I also have a 06 Si. I posted a video along with a HELP! thread because I was worried but I'm at 40,000KMs now and the engine is still perfect! I've also used Mobil 1.

Hope it helps.

That tapping you hear is a vacuum solenoid attached to your valve cover. I noticed it when I first got my car.

Try this: When you hear the tapping, pop your hood with your engine running and look for a vacuum solenoid attached to the drivers' side of the valve cover. Unhook the wire harness from it and your tapping will stop. Once you've found the source of your noise, plug it back in because you need it. Profit.

Yup, I get that too. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
