Mechanics-wiper arm removal/adjustment

How do I get the wiper arm off? It looks like if I moved the arm down a notch it would be easier to see (guess) where the front of the car is.
I felt under the arm and can feel a curved piece underneath that may be a clip but I didn't want to force it and wasn't sure which direction it goes. In the old days you just pried the arm off with a screwdriver but these jap cars are tricky.
