06 civic automatic trans rolling on hill?

ive had a lot of manual transmission civics and automatic trans civic and i just noticed this when my girlfriend bought her 2006 civic 2dr lx

what i mean is that, when you are going uphill or downhill and driving an automatic vehicle, it should not keep rolling if you let go of the brakes. but for some reason the 2006 civic will keep rolling down if going downhill and will keep rolling back also when going uphill. and no the car is in DRIVE gear, not neutral.

does your automatic 06 07 civics do the same thing?

i went to the dealer and the guy said this is how they are designed for the 8th gen civic?

this will happen with any car and any transmission.
as far as the car rolling backwards...i have had some cars that do and some cars that dont. my g/f civic also rolls backwards on an incline...so i guess it is normal. i never thought anything of it.

Some vehicle do it others dont.....I saw a big Ford F350 on a hill slowly rolling back while in drive and i see other cars do it all the time. On the other hand some makes and models will hold themselves on an incline.
