Question P2422 Code... Aaaaargh

Keep getting this code P2422. EVAP Evaporative Emmision System Vent Shut Valve Close Malfunction.

I know they had a recall for 03' accords for this, but what about my 06' Civic?

Is this a warranty covered repair ? I have 36, 834 miles on the car. Have checked the gas cap, gasket, several times. Not the problem I believe.

It pisses me off that I have to pay $88 at the dealer just to get the same info about the code I got from AutoZone for free. Have not gone to the dealer for repair yet. If it's a warranty covered issue, I will, otherwise I will have aprivate mechanic service the car.

Anybody had this code come up before on there 06/07 Civics' ?

Thanks in advance.

3yr/36k miles means your not covered unless goodwill or extended. if so it is covered under warranty.

I take it you cleared the code and it came back? If so, then the evap system just pooped out. Not much you can do but take it to the dealer to be dealt with. Sorry to hear that man.

Well. I did have to go to the dealer for service. It turned out to be a spider's nest blocking the EVAP shut valve. While there, they did the recall repairs that were needed. If they would have replaced a part, my extended warranty would have covered it, but no parts were needed. Runnin' good again, hopefully for a long time.

3yrs/36k miles is bumper to bumper

5yrs/50k miles is powertrain

EVAP = powertrain

he still has power train warranty

Honda vent shut valves go bad all the time, that's probably what it is. Possibly a line to or from the vent shut valve came off too.

It's definitely not a gas cap problem. Loose gas cap and you get EVAP large leak detected, EVAP small leak detected and EVAP very small leak detected, usually all at the same time (sometimes just 1 or 2 of the 3 though).
