Can anyone tell me what's the normal temperature reading is when the max ac is on (recirculating) the coldest temp it gets to. Thanks. I got my car in for the ac check up and they' coudln't duplicate the issue it has. I always get cool air out of it. Thanks a lot.

Anyone can help me on this. Dealer said it is blowing 48 degrees out of the vent is normal. I mean hell I had taken AC and cooling system. We flushed and put new freon on it blew like 32 out of the vent out of the 95 neon, 96 taurus n other older cars. 48 degrees in 70 degree ambient Is not normal.

Anyone?

have you compare to different Manufacturers' ACs and do you feel comfortable when its 90 degrees or above? 42 is probably tested from mid 70s ambient temp. so it will b higher than that when above 90s.

it was tested when it was 103 outside .. i complained i had to have it on full all the time to even get a breeze going lol, after the car being sat in the sun i can get in , AC on full for 5mins, then turn it down

in the darker color cars, the AC isn't as efficient when the engine revs are below 2500

I'm not gonna sit here and explain all the details, but the only REAL way to test an AC is with the AC set to fresh air (NOT "MAX" COOL), car in park, RPMs held constant at 1500 RPM, and the outside tempereture has to be ATLEAST 85 degrees outside.

You can't test an AC at 70 degrees ambient temperature b/c that is not hot enough. The compressor will cycle on and off and the temperature through the vents will fluctuate too much to get an accurate reading.

Vent must be set to fresh air, not recirculate, so that it is pulling in hot air from outside, not cool air from the already cooled down cabin.

AC system is designed to work best between 1500 - 2000 RPM. That is why the AC doesn't work as good at idle.

Also, FYI, AC tests are performed with manifold guages and interpreted by pressures, not temperatures.

at the dealer, we check AC with all the windows up, fan set to low, on recirculate. usually they should blow high 30's to low 40's depending on the vehicle. you have to wait a while for it to hit it's lowest temp with no doors/windows open. then each vehicle has a chart to compare the temp with the pressure readings from the high and low sides of the system and you check to see if it's in spec. but like i said, most with a full system and proper pressure are right in the 38-44 range.
