06' Si woes

Having some issues with my 06' Si and I'm interested in hearing what you all have to say about them. I realize some of these are already addressed in other threads or in a TSB. Just want to state all of the problems and get some valuable input from you all. Problems so far:

-Since bought new the car shakes at 70+mph.
-Car doesn't like to go into 3rd gear, popped out once. (will print TSB)
-High pitched "whine" noise when turn left or right at low speed. Sounds like it is coming from right behing the steering wheel.
-AC kicks on HARD at startup.

I'm going to try to get into the dealership this week and have the problems looked at. I've already had the car in two or three times about the car shaking at 70+mph and they won't do anything. Honda did a wheel balance, paid for another wheel balance at NTB, then nothing because "Above 70mph is above normal driving procedures". Call still shakes. :/ Also took the car in for the hard kick on from AC on startup but they said they couldn't replicate the problem. Funny, I can replicate it almost every morning when I start the car...

Anyways, I'm starting to get tired of the problems. I had an 00' Celica GT-S that gave me a bunch of crap and I'm not interested in doing all of that again. Input?

Thanks,

-TSG-

Shaking above 70 MPH could be a lot of things. Bad tire/wheel, wheel bearing, etc.

3rd gear problem has been talked about a lot in many different threads on this site. If you search for them you will find pages and pages of posts about it.

The Si has electric power steering. It is possible you are simply hearing the motor. It sounds different than traditional hydraulic power steering.

My A/C does this sometimes too. It almost seems as if the A/C clutch has a little bit of oxidation/corrosion on it from sitting and is grabbing quicker than normal. You will probably have to leave it overnight at the dealer for them to see it. And even then you take the chance of them saying they didn't hear it or it is normal.

Hope some of this helps. If not, let me know and my next post is free .

There is a new recall regarding the wheel bearing in the rear end of the car. I don't know if that will fix the shaking about 70, but I suffer from it too, only not as bad, I don't think.

Third gear is a dead issue, or it may as well be. Honda claims they know nothing about this, and every dealership I've been to claims they can't replicate it. There is a temporary fix or an "ease". Replace your MTF with Amsoil for best results, or use the new Honda MTF.

The A/C is just loud and obnoxious on the new Civic, I've notied.

ive noticed the high pitched whine as well. ive found with my 06 si that it only happens with the clutch fully depressed and the car still in gear, if u pop it into neutral it should stop. weird...i know

Then get a VW GTI....but if you think that will erase the probability of quirks/problems think again, especially when you are out of warranty
