Typical. How Typical.

Thanks for the update, I haven't been back to the dealership (everything is being done tomorrow).
I wish they'd just get to the bottom of this. This is the third revision in the last few weeks.... I didn't really look at it too closely yet, but what was different between the "new" one and the one I was given yesterday?

I doubt it happens tomorrow, I just called and they said that they did not even have the parts in yet. They even gave me the run around about not doing certain work on Saturday (rattle problems). Honda dealers seem like such cons at least in the Twin Cities. Bloomington is the only place that I have had reasonable success with. |

I had a blowout with one of their techs several months ago whne he called me a liar (regarding 3rd gear), but other than Burnsville Honda, the only other dealer I prefer to go to is Richfield Bloomington. They've treated me very well, though Burnsville has been much, much better. Also, when they rebuild the dealership (Burnsville) it will be the largest car dealership in Minnesota (except the BMW dealership in Bloomington). Nice, hey? EDIT: In regards to the rattles, that can be a hard thing to fix, because they have to narrow down the exact area it comes from and then pull it apart and figure it out: it can take hours. A squeak in my A pillar had an estimated 6 hour labor time at Hopkins Honda. They've been nothing but great about all my rattles. I drove around with a tech named Tim for an hour finding intermittent rattles, where most dealers would've went around the block and called it quits. Can't beat that.

Open your hood & look right below your windshield wipers. That black plastic piece is the cowl for our cars. Now look inside the engine bay part of the cowl on the passenger side of the engine bay & you'll see a little door. Slide it to the left & you'll see your VIN stamped on the metal.

so i guess the real question is... affected or not, should we ALL have a punch under the 7th character in our under-hood VINs?
to clarify, i do not fall within range of the recall on my '07 Si sedan (7H708XXX) but should i still have a punch in the VIN plate even still to show that issue has been resolved during or after manufacture?? just curious. im not freaking out or anything at all. thanks in advance to any1 with insight. :) |

![]() If your car's VIN falls outside the range of the recall (the recall doesn't apply to it), it shouldn't have a punch mark under the seventh VIN character. SOLO8thGenSi, this applies to your car. If you just bought your car and the VIN falls in the recall range, you need to examine the engine compartment VIN. If it has a punch mark under the seventh character, the recall procedure has already been performed. If there isn't a punch mark (which is highly likely since the recall notice was just published), it needs to be inspected. If your car is affected by the recall and you don't want strangers dicking with it, and you have the ability to perform the inspection yourself, there's no harm in self-checking the ABS sensors and O-rings. If you find something amiss, take it in and have Honda attack it. If all is well, skip the recall and let them screw up fix someone else's car. If you don't agree with me, no need to flame. |
