Blown Si Engine

What would it take to blow-up the engine of our 2007 Civc Si's?

I don't think it would take hardly any C4 at all to blow up a Si engine

a miss shift revving the engine stupidly high.

or u can do a search and read the few threads that are on here about ppl who blew their motor, than determine what it will take.

Just went past 8000rpm on 2nd for a few moments with rev limiter on. I just wan't to know how you'd know when the engine's blown.

Get to 8k in fifth gear, then put it into second. That'll get it nice and ready.

If you're banging the rev limiter, it doesn't matter all too much, just don't do it often. The limiter is there to prevent such things as your engine blowing or shooting a piston head through the engine and hitting a bird like in Duck Hunt...but without the dog.

How do you know when...

your engine is "blown"? When it makes a loud BANG (followed by silence except for your sound system and wind noise) ...smoke and steam roll out from under the hood....you smell hot oil....you leave a trail of jagged metal parts behind you...and most importantly the car will no longer respond to the gas pedal you have pinned to the floor. In fact it will loose speed quickly until you reach a speed of zero (0) so be sure to aim it toward the berm because once it stops you will be there for a while (at least until the rollback arrives)

^excellent description..lol

but this is what happens also...you bring your car to honda, have it sit there for weeks, post it on a forum, have complete strangers make assumptions that they have no idea what they are talking about...and hopefully get it warrentied.

i believe you might hear some hissing, and zzzzzzzzz, and maybe a lil squeek squeek squeek, and the driver might go, and then some weeping

Isn't it funny how some people's BS meter doesn't go through the roof whenever a salesman talks about free stuff.

Salesmen will tell you anything, a Nissan salesman told me if under the bumper to bumper warranty period if I were to have a stain on the carpet I (or they can't remove) I'd get the entire carpet replaced right there and then. Funny, the service center mgr said that was news to him because it falls under "that's your tough luck". I think when your salesman said you'd get a new engine for free he was talking about if a Honda defect caused the catastrophic engine failure then it'd apply (not fun driving with a ton of mods).
