Note on Amsoil filters. While they may provide the absolute best filtering media. The canister is smooth. Which makes for a difficult removal! Bent one all to heck taking it off of my sportbike. Don't understand why a $$ filter can't offer something better. Fram makes them with the wrench ends and makes a model that is coated to provided more traction. K&N weld on a bolt head.

None the less I'll be using amsoil. Just need to find a good tool for removal and make sure I don't install it too tight.

Head over to Amazon or just punch this into your favorite search engine "World's Best Universal Oil Filter Wrench". Your other option is a band-style wrench, which I've had some success with but you need some room to use them.

This might be off topic, but this past weekend I changed my oil with a Wix filter for my R18. When I put my key in the II position, the "oil light" did not go away. I checked the fluid level, made sure the filter was hand-tight, and checked to see if the pan was leaking any oil. Put the key in the II position again and the oil light was still lit. I had to unplug the battery and everything is back to normal.

I've been using Mobil 1 EP oil filter since the first oil change, so this was my first Wix.

I'll have to see what part number the filter was.

You have to follow the reset procedure listed in your owners manual.

this looks like it would be good for tight fit areas. Pretty neat. Would have been nice if Honda took a note from VW, MB, or Toyota and place the filter topside. The I could use my pella oil suction and never have to lift the car for oil changes.

If you can't get it off you must be overtightening it. Quarter turn past touching!

Now before you guys go off in the search for the holy grail of larger oil filters be warned. Just because the canister is bigger doesn't mean much! Many people have taken apart two filters of different sizes only to find the exact same amount of media in each one.

So you'd want to buy two and cut them apart just to confirm you're actually doing something and not just buying a larger filter canister with nothing more in it except empty space.

Remember, companies like to make things modular so they have less parts laying around.

Now, having said, the appropriately sized filter that is of higher quality is going to do more good than a larger filter of lesser quality. You want the highest efficiency possible while maintaining flow with an adequate amount of media to hold a large amount of dirt.

I never used/sold AMSOIL's old SDF line of filters because I thought they were overpriced for what you got. However, I'm loving the EAO line.
