downshifting to far?

I have down shifted a million times from 6th to 4th w/ no problems ever when i wana eccelerate quckly wail at 60 to pass someone. well the other day i don't know how i did it but i went to far and i shifted into second. my speed was probably between 60-65 when it happend i heard a loud noise i had my engine reved up to about 4500 befor i droped it. do u think that is enough 2 damage an engine as far as it spining past the redline? or do u think that it'll be good. i get a wird smell every now and then i notice it around 4000 but i don't get it all the time idk what it is and i have never smelt burnt clutch befor. anyone got some imput?

I caught myself doing the exact same thing once, I think I caught it though before I fully released the clutch. I've had no ill effects from it.

I dropped it pretty hard on 2nd and the Warning light came on for a quick second. I probably shifted down from 3rd at about 4.5k RPM. Nothing bad seemed to happen but I don't think I'll do it again.

You should be ok, once you weren't in the red zone for too long

I'm sorry, from reading your original post, did you notice your error and dropped the clutch when you saw the RPMs rise quickly and dropped it at 4500 RPM or did you let it wind past the redline?

i droped it cuz normaly when i down shift from 6th to 4th thats were i go 2 and it gives me a smoth engagement i mean i never just drop it but i slip it pretty quick. to quick 2 catch my self in the event of a mistake oh well i havn't really noticed anything bad. i wish i knew what burnt clutch smelled like. the girl i'm seeing says thats what it smells like cuz she burnt up a clutch when she learned how 2 drive stick so we'll see. P.s. she's a keeper she's getting an Si as well :)
