car is soaked inside...how?

Update!!!

I take the car Honda this morning and I got the best service advisor I've ever dealt with. He says bluntly to me either the door is leaking or the AC condensation tube is plugged. He says to me "how bad does it smell" and I reply with "see for yourself".

He jumps in and immediately says the car needs new carpet and mats and calls me back an hour later and says it was the door leaking. The carpet wont be here until monday but I'm ok with that. He said she'll be as good as new by Monday evening. No Si for the weekend ....but it's convertable weather out anyways!!!!

My car has been sitting for about 10 days now and I got to jump in it today for a spin and i notics it stinks inside. After checking for fish and food remains I noticed under the floor mats on the drivers side is soaked!!! The windows were up and the moonroof closed.

It poured here the last week....how did it get in? vents?

and how do i get rid of the smell?

thanks

That's what I'm thinking...but then I'm going to have to get in a pissing match with them to get anything done. I've got the mats out and it's drying now. Vacumed it with a shopvac and drove around for an hour with the heat/ac on

Crossed my mind ...man I'm hoping it doesn't smell like this for long. I'm a neat freak when it comes to my cars interior and this is killing me. Can water get into the HVAC system?

Been driving the summer car so much that at first I thought the Si was just smelling form being closed up so much.

i would take it in and have them look for a leak. Was it only on the bottom of the floor. Seats and doors were all dry

yeah...seats are dry.... the mats may have kept the floor wet. Or maybe only the floor got wet. Only on the drivers side as well

no leak. your a/c evaporator tube is clogged. find the tube, get an air gun, blow air into it, and watch how much water comes out. have you been running your a/c endlessley or drive on dusty roads?

Check your sunroof in case the drain tubes are plugged.

Its not these things

Heater core because:
A. you would notice the distinctive smell of coolant, and it would be slightly sticky to the touch.
B. the heater core is on the passenger side (behind the glove box).
The A.C. evap drain tube clogged problem because:
A. it too is on the passenger side.
If the seats and top side of the floor mats are dry it seems it may be coming from around the windshield or a poor body weld. However, water leaks are hard to track down because water travels along body seams and braces under the dash only to drip off inches or feet from the entry point.
The dealer is your best bet to both find the source and dry the carpet so it doesn't mold/mildew.

Could be a problem with something on the firewall. My roommate's car leaked in the same location (driver's side front). Turns out he had some clutch work done and they didn't put a grommet or something along those lines back onto the firewall like they should and so he got to go swimming for a few days.
