Paint Defect

So I was detailing my (1 week old) car yesterday, and I noticed a piece of duct tape by the rear mudguard (partly underneath it). Then I realize it's the color of my car (galaxy grey)...I peel it off, and see bumper-plastic black underneath I'm wondering if the dealership will repaint the entire bumper, or just that part? I assume repainting the entire bumper would be better, but will it be of the same "quality" as the original?

Anyway, I attached some pictures. 1 and 2 are of the rear drivers side mud guard/bumper area. 3 and 4 are the front and back of the piece of tape, respectively.

They will probably just blend it. Make sure they buff it out.

Oh my god! Definitely take it back to the dealership and tell him to fix it!

and have them run a carfax, b/c it could be damage caused on the lot that they fixed before you bought the car.

True. I have seen them get off the transporter messed up. They obviously bumped into each other.

Ah thanks for the advice. I checked carfax just now and it came back with zero records. If the accident occurred and was repaired at the dealership, would there be a record produced? It had 59 miles on it, and traffic in the area is horrendous, so it wouldn't surprise me if it had gotten into a fender-bender on a test drive, or even in transport to/from the holding lot.

Thats so lame..honestly, this is why I do not trust ANY car sitting on the lot at dealers, F That, I will order my special and watch it come off the truck myself and then inspect it myself..I have done this for the last 2 cars I have bought.

there are deff ways around reporting an accident. I would just go up there and ask them to explain what happened. If it doesn't meet your likeling or seems like they are full of it just ask for a new car, or your money back and say you're going to buy a car from another dealer. I don't know if it will work but its worth a try.
