Window shattered

Hey everyone, I was driving down today at about 60mph, and all of the sudden the drivers rear window shattered(07 4dr si). Has anyone else had this happen or heard of it happening? There was a car in front of me and a car in back of me, but i did not see any objects that could have cause this. I had the sunroof up, so the inside of the car was doing that funky air pressure ocillation(for lack of a better way to describe it), but not bad enough to blow my window in to pieces. I am really bumed out. The glass put a few minor scratches in the paint also. I am not really sure what to think of the hole deal, is it a waranty issue?, was someone shooting a b-b-gun(i did not see anyone else around? Let me know what you guys think.I thought maybe since it is the first year of the 4dr si, they may have an issue with the rear door windows or something.

A few points:
  • No way the air buffeting "whup-whup-whup" is to blame.
  • Unlikely it was a rock hitting your rear window fast enough and hard enough to do the deed given your 60 mph forward progress.
  • Even when I've tried I've not been able to get a BB from a high powered Crossman pump rifle to blow through a car window much less one that was moving away from me at 60 mph.

The above said, I have seen any number of rear windows blow out for different reasons. Usually the OAT is hot, hot as in over 100 and there is a counteracting cooling influence at the same time (i.e. taking a car that has been baking in the sun for a few hours and running it directly through a carwash or driving through a brief summer rain shower on what otherwise is a hot summer day).

In the end you may never find out the cause.

as long as the glass is still in the window and there isnt an impact mark (like a rock or a bb would make) they should replace it

A long time ago when I was on vacation with my family, in a rented minivan, the side-rear window shattered randomly while driving as well. Mysterious...
