2006 Honda Civic Brake Problem

I purchased my civic in July 2006. I do a lot of driving for work so, to date, I have 47,000 miles on it! around 20k I had to have my brake pads replaced. Thought this was VERY strange. Honda told me that it was somewhat normal but was probably sped up because of my driving habits. okay?! I don't ride my brakes. Had my brake pads changed. The exterior pad looked brand new while the interior pad was worn down damn near to the metal. Again, was told by Honda that this is normal and that is just how their breaks wear. I am now at 47k miles and am already down to the wear indicator of my second pair of brake pads. I don't care if I was the worse driver known to man... that is flat out ridiculous!!! Please help! Don't know what to do or who to talk to.

if u hav rear drums brakes (the lx does) u should have them adjusted about every 6-8k or at every tire rotation whatever that interval is...that would help somewhat with front brake wear

Isn't that something the people at Honda should be suggesting if I'm asking them questions about it?! I don't understand how the break wear-down is normal...for one pad to look brand new and the other to be damn near gone!! Honda has offered no suggestions or explanations other than it is normal and they basically insinuate that I'm break happy

Downshift or brake earlier and lighter (or both) to extend the life of your brakes. Braking lighter and longer is better than braking harder and shorter.

Maybe honda has a problem with their calipers or the slides sticking, They shouldn't be wearing unevenly. I would probably go back and bi+++

I do that.... I cost if I can, and brake light. I don't ride my brakes or slam on the 24/7... If I did that I would understand the problem....but I don't!

My car has 60,000 miles on already and i still have the original brakes pads on. In August I had an oil change and they told me that my front brake pads needs to be changed soon and my rear brakes are still good. Now my front brake still have some life left, but my rear brakes is grinding metal to metal. How can that happen in one month?

Have you done any brake servicing? Usually uneven wear like that suggests that a coliper pin got seized in place keeping one pad or a portion of it applied at all times, if that happened it does not take long for the material to wear down.
