wtf rust spot

anyway while washing my car today i found a rust spot on the trunk (right below the license plate. it's like a dot but why would it rust in such an uncommon spot? should i take it back to the dealer? i've had the car for about 11 months.

Pictures? If anything compromises the cars finish like a scratch, abrasion or a paint defect that allowed the paint to peel off the metal underneath will rust.

you know ive seen stuff like that on my dad's bmw, but he said they werent "rust spots" and he showed me that a good once over with a claybar took those "rust spots" off.

hopefully its the same deal with your situation, best of luck sir.

I went to Meijer and got an automotive paint that matches ASM almost exactly, and whenever I see a rock chip I brush over it with that before it can rust or what have you. Even comes with it's own tiny little brush and everything, I keep it in my glove box.

i'll get pictures up in the morning when there's light outside. swear it's a rust spot though. i'm currently looking through my warranty because i swear i heard something about paint and rust. it's been through one minnesota winter (2006) but that was like 5 days out of the whole season that it snowed. it's really an uncommon spot though.

I had a spot of rust as well after only 4 months of owning the car. I took it to the dealer and the guy said dont worry it's covered. Unless you accidently chiped the paint some how.

^like he said. there is a rust/paint warrenty as long as it is a defect (paint bubbleing/rusting/blemishes)..but if you scratch tehepaint from a rock or hitting somthing and it rusts, that will not be covered.
