I was installing my TWM short shifter cable bushings, and when I was trying to remove the metal washer on the old bushing, it went flying off into the engine bay! It landed on a metal pan underneath a large horizontal hose. I can barely touch the tip of it with a screwdriver, but I guess it is stainless steel because I can't grab it with a magnetic tip. Also, when I was trying to get out the other rubber bushing, it also went flying, but it fell through the engine bay completely onto the ground.
I couldn't figure out any way to reach that metal ring though, so I just put everything back together. Will it fall out onto the ground when I am driving (which is ok with me since I don't need it), or is there a danger that it could interfere or damage something in the engine?

My buddy has this thing...I don't know the name, but any auto parts store should sell it. It's lime a long flexible thing with a grabby thing at the end, which you open and close with a button at the top. Really kicks ass for stuff like this...
