Interior Question

For those of you that have taken out their factory radio or who would have some knowledge of whats behind it this question is for you?

What is directly behind our stock radio? The problem is my aftermarket Navi is overheating. Unless I run the air when the ambient temp is over 95 it keeps freezing up on me and being a bitch. So before I took my Navi back out I was thinking of just cutting a hole in whatever was behind it to allow the fan some more "fresh air" since the wires are just a mess behind there in that little tiny space. But When I took it out this morning it looks like whats behind the Navi is the heating/cooling ducts for the car. Probably explains why if I turn on my A/C the unit starts behaving right again in about 2 mins.

Can anyone confirm this? If it is maybe I can poke two or three holes in it and all some of the air to escape into the radio compartment.

Thanks in Advance

This is an aftermarket navi unit I take it? Oops, I just read it again. The unit is probably at fault, they shouldn't be overheating like that. If the factory unit doesn't then something during the install may be wrong.

Yeah well the after Market Navi is a little bigger I would assume. And the location and size difference of the fans could make a difference.

Well I figured out that it is indeed the air ducts. Now the question is whether or not I want to poke a few small holes into it. It will be fine and dandy for summer time because you almost all was have cool air coming on. But for the winter when it's chilly outside I might regret it....

Probably going to try and push all the wires underneath the unit and off the one side and see if it helps things out.

I put in a service request with Eclipse so I should be receiving my box to ship it back for warrenty repairs early next week if this doesn't fix the problem. =)
