Finally Got A/C Kit For DX Civic

I went to the local dealership today and got the A/C kit for my Civic Coupe. With the Summer heat just around the corner, I thought it was the time so I finally got it. They ended up selling the A/C kit to me for 900.00 + tax so it ended up being like 975.00 Total out the door. I spoke with the guy from College Hills Honda today over the phone and he stated it would be $925.62 shipped to my door. I know I could have saved $50.00, but at least I know for the fact I got the right A/C kit for my car and didn't have to worry about it being damage in transport. Once the car comes back from the body shop I will install the A/C kit myself. I quite sure most of us here on this forum could easily install it. There is no sense paying the dealership $786.00 to install it. The kit looks very easy to install with step by step instructions showing you how to install it.

I truly hope you are a mechanically inclined person... Or better yet a mechanic by trade.

Following the directions is one thing (which in this case is not simply a bolt-in affair as I saw the directions on College Hills Honda's website), but how are you going to charge the system? Do you have something at your home? This isn't a backyard project, but feel free to try it. If you run into a snag halfway through the dealership isn't going to save your ass, and if they do, it'll cost you dearly.

With regards to A/C, the $2000 extra for the LX model offsets any stress of dealing with this.

I thought you need a special lic. to charge/fill the system?

I know in Ontario, Canada you do (which I do have).

I'm definately a mechanically inclined person. I do all my repairs myself on my vehicles. I guess I've always tinkered with vehicles since I was 16 years old, mainly Honda's. The A/C looks very easy to install on my car. Once it comes back from the body shop hopefully on Sat, then I will start to install the A/C kit. I will do a DYI on the install. The Crown Vic has already cost me almost $40.00 in gas this week and I'm debating weither or not to sell it! I'll be glad to get the Civic back. Oh, someone asked weither the DX comes with power windows, and its does!

Here's some pictures of the kit! This kit came in a very small box. It includes everything from the condensor, A/C compressor, evap core and all the A/C lines. Everything is plug and play according the the instructions that came with the kit.
