What happend to honda's "start up " sound?

Have you guys noticed on the 06-07 civics, when you start the car it doesnt sound like hondas of the late 90's and early 2000's? My 06 Element also sounds different. I am referring to the sound of the starter and engine turning over. I have heard a few new Kia's that sound more agressive than the new civic.

Is it because of the starter?

I would be willing to put money on it will start to happen over time. I noticed that about my 05 em2 when I got it, but now I hear it once in a blue moon.

You know its the "jiiiiiiiiit--jit--jit" sound that older honda's make when you start them up. I can hear that noise and know before I look that its an older honda. Honda's V6's also make a distinct noice when starting. I have also noticed a lot of GM's make a different distict noise......I am just wondering what has changed in the 06+ Civic that makes it sound different....

if you work in a garage you will eventually notice alot of different sounds that all cars make, but i have noticed that

if i was in a dark room i could tell if there was a key in the ignition of a ford, chevy, honda, etc lol that all are distinct

i dont think this "start up sound" youre referring to is any kind of trademark honda sound.. it just is what it is. if they sound different its because its a different engine design.

Every car manufacturer has a distinct sound. GMs all the sound the same as they age. Toyotas, Hondas, every company has a unique sound. You ever hear an old Chrysler Corp car runnning. They all sound exactly the same.

Subarus the same thing. You can hear them coming 2 blocks away.

I mentioned this to my wife. We had a 1998 Prelude from 1998 to 2001. She doesn't understand what I'm talking about, though. That trademark Honda sound has definitely changed on this car.
