help! problem with sun visor

my '07 civic sedan is parked in my school parking lot throughout the whole day, so i usually put a sun shade on my window. about three weeks ago, the passenger side of my sun visor broke while it was down holding up the sun shade. i'm convinced it had something to do with the heat interfering with the plastic, so it cracked and would not go back up. the honda dealership was nice enough to replace it for me without questions asked, but just today, my other one broke! same situation.

has anyone else been having problems with this? or have any suggestions as to what i can do? (i live in arizona, so getting rid of my sun shade is not an option) i don't want to have to go back to the dealership every so often because the same situation keeps happening.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Known issue, unfortunately. The only thing we can do is to wait until they create a fix for our cheap sunvisors. That's what Honda/We get for making a two-piece visor instead of a simple one piece like traditional ones....

I haven't had any problems with mine, but I know people who have.

I admit, thats the worst part of the interior, in my opinion. They look cheap and out of place, to me.

But I suppose they're fine in a sub compact economy car.

I avoided it for a year by being very careful. First hot day of this summer. BAM, exploding sunvisor because I was not paying attention.

Honda dealers already feel my wrath about the build quality of my car and constant warranty appointments.

Honda proper will feel my wrath if my sunvisor explodes and plastic embeds itself in my head.

i just got my second one replaced yesterday. the dealership said there was nothing they could do except replace it with the same exact sunvisor so i suppose they'll be seeing a lot of me until they find a fix to this problem.

thanks for all the help!!!

Honda sun visor falling apart

I’ve had to replace 3 cracked driver side sunvisors on my 2007 Honda. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU IT IS JUST A HEAT PROBLEM. I live in Central California, hardly ever get real hot weather. Honda at 1-800-999-1009 acted like I was only one that has problem. Refused to guarantee after warranty is over. Look on internet. Massive complaints about sunvisor. We should not be penalized because they use cheap parts. This is a safety issue. This problem started with their 2006 models and they still haven’t fixed it.

Don't let them get away with this: Write complaint directly to Tetsuo Iwamura, CEO of Honda Motor Co. Inc., Mail Stop 500-2N-7A, 1919 Torrance Boulevard, Torranc, California 90501-2746. Let him know if you don’t get satisfactrion, you will file complaint with National Highway Traffice Safety Administration (NHTSA) at IVOQ - File a Complaint and Consumer Product Safety Commission at http://www.cpsc.gov/. You can file complaint on line.

Guys, I got a 10" 2.5% Limo strip at the top of my windshield so I dont have to use them. You might want to consider it.

Wipe Armorall on the plastic pieces up there for a little bit of UV protection or something like that. Probably won't do much, but if you have Armorall lying around the house...might as well try.
