Scratches on the windshield already!

I was driving back home last weekend from Syracuse to NYC, and it was raining pretty hard. I had my wipers on high for a good 20-30 minutes. I realized that when I got back home about four and a half hours later, a moon-shaped line in the lower portion of the driver's side windshield had appeared. I checked, and it is indeed a scratch. There are also assorted splotches (which are scratches) in the path of the passenger's side windshield.

Is this some sort of defect?! What should I do?

i would check with honda and see what they recomend. sometimes if you can prove it was the cars defect that caused the scratches they will cover it under warranty. also if you pitch a big enough fit they will most likely get it fixed for you. good luck keep us up to date.

some ins. companys have free glass replacement that wont go against you or the price of ur insurance. or you good try to determine if it was caused by the wipers and if so take it to a dealer and show them. thats what i would do.

Alright, I'll give it a shot. Do you think I would have a better chance at explaining the situation to the dealership I bought the car from, or the dealership that is up here. The thing is, I bought the car back home (NYC), but go to college in Syracuse. Would a Syracuse Honda dealership give me any more s#!t because I didn't buy it from them?

no you shouldn't have any problem. all honda dealers around the country have to honor your warranty.

A friend of mine had this same problem with his 2005 Maxima, and Nissan claimed it was "abuse" because he failed to properly maintain his windshield wipers, and that it is considered normal "wear and tear" anyway.

They didn't fix a thing, and he had only 2900 miles at the time. He went to two other dealers and they said the same thing.

Sounds like its an issue with your windshield wipers. I would hate to replace one of these bast**** due to the cost of replacement. Definately not available at your local parts store yet!

Only the rubber part of the wiper is suppose to touch the window. Is the rubber scratching it, or is a piece of plastic touching? I don't have any wiper scratches after 14k miles and I've used my wipers alot also, but i try to keep them on intermedite.

Sounds like something may have been caught under the wiper blade (ie. a pebble) which would have scratched the windshield.

Wiper refills are about $3-$10 for the set available just about anywhere. It uses regular wiper refills.

If your talking about the assembly
