As the title says another change for all 2008 civics -they have TPMS. I wonder how hard it will be to retrofit on 06 and 07s?

first this is a repost.
second TPMS is Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
Third retrofitting would be kind of a waste of time.

Well the monitoring devices go on the Valve Stem but it depends if the rims will accommodate the device and same tire pressure.

it will be the same as in the Elements -the warning light will be on until you reach 25mph or more.
One more hassle esp when you change tires-one TPMS valve is about $60 and you need 4...

You cant use aftermarket wheels with the tpms system, unless if you dont mind the tpms light on at all times.

tpms works by detecting different rotation in the tires...well thats how its works on my girls car

not every tire pressure system has sensors inside the wheels, and the government doesnt actually require that type of direct monitoring. this other type works by detecting diffrences in wheelspeed for a long duration of time, i.e. if a tire is low on air, it will have a smaller radius than the other tires and hence spin faster. the computer uses the information from the 4WAL (4 wheel anti lock brakes) sensors and determines if the tire is too low. this is how most "lower end" cars will monitor the pressure, although it is my guess that the civic will indeed use the valve stem radio signal type, which are a pain in the ass even if you have stock wheels b/c you have to reset it every tire rotation and every time it has a low tire warning...... the system is not inteded for enthusiests (sp?) like us, but rather people who DGIF (dont give a fu**) about their cars.
