OMG engine in my SI is TOAST!

Well I think I did some major damage to the SI tonite.I was driving back from watching the test n tune at the local strip. I was sorta racing a new WRX. He had me by a fender as I shifted into 4th. I started to pull on him then POP and the engine dropped a cylinder. The nice CEL started flashing. So i pulled over to stop and before I could completely stop the engine died. Im like O $hit. Grab the flash light and look under the car for oil or coolant. So no signs of external leaks. Open the hood and looked for anything. everything looks in order. Tried to crank engine over and O boy not good.Definitely loss a cylinder. It tries to run but sounds very very bad. So called a Tow truck and brought it back to the house. Have to call the dealer in the morning to tow it to them. Not good not good!

Not completely sure whats wrong with out seeing what code it is throwing. I dont hear any engine knocks like a rod or anything, but definitely has a cylinder not firing.

Just SRI intake and a custom AJP 3" exhaust and cat. And NST pulleys. Not any big mods yet. I wont be able to sleep until I know what broke.

Are you going to put the OEM parts back on? Your warranty might get voided if the dealer sees the aftermarket parts.

No way to put factory parts back on dont have them. They would have to prove that the aftermarket parts were the cause before they could void my warranty.Plus I bought supplemental coverage just incase the factory didn't cover something.

sometimes the dealers do repairs that normally wouldnt be under warranty for free or minimal cost to you cause they use them as a training exercise. I've heard of people getting a deal like that but i have no idea how one goes about getting it.

Hmm i would be on the safe side and get them stock parts and then take it to the dealer, I've been through this and it sucks.....Good luck and keep us posted.

It kinda sounds like my issue, you could have blown the headgasket, drain your oil and see if you have coolant draining first then the oil this will be a good sign of blown headgasket, Im doing the same to my car tomorrow.

But one of the big problems with my car and the dealer was the reflash i had because the reflash pushes the car past the stock redline, so maybe in your case you might have some leverage, since you still have stock ecu and stock redline.

Nothing I can do about the OEM parts I don't have them anymore. The dealer is pretty nice. I have met the owner several times. I think they will look the other way on my intake and exhaust. Now if I had force induction or NOSthey wouldl frown. But These are basic add ons no big changes. Shouldn't be too of big of a deal.
