Hit the rev limiter couple of times.....

Well I just got my short ram on couple days ago on my Si. So I head out to have some fun, well at first I go from 1st to 2nd gear but miss 2nd some how (lol) and hit the rev limiter and immediately stepped on the clutch.. Then the next night, go from 2nd to 3rd gear but miss 3rd some how (lol) and hit the rev limiter and immediately stepped on the clutch again.

It should be fine just hitting the rev limiter correct? It's only if you miss shift down a gear is when it messes stuff up correct?

THe first time i hit my limiter, it scared the hell out of me so I try not to do it. But from what the others told me you should be fine. If your doing that every day though, I would be worried. How do you miss second, and third gear?

I've hit the limiter at one point and the fuel cutted off x_x.

Late shifted it into 2nd though, lol.

Seems okay to me, don't recommend repeating it often though.

its fine. thats what the revlmiter is there for. so you bounce on it rather than over-revving it. you technically didnt over-rev it.

your good you didnt over rev. just bounced off the limiter. dont do it too much and you'll be good. a lot of us have been there.

Don't worry about it all thats happening is the fuel is being cut so its basically like reving to that rpm and letting off of the gas. A guy on the mazdaspeed3 forum was talking about how in an autocross to get the best time he didn't want to switch out of second so he banged it off the rev limiter off and on for 20 seconds.. no problems

Yeah, the rev limiter is doing its job by not letting you over rev. Just don't mis-shift. The rev limiter will not react fast enough when you're downshifting and the RPMs shoot beyond redline.

ya i've seen a old civic hatch with a fart can just sit there in park or nuetral and bounce his sh*t off the rev limiter like 25 times...

and ya dont miss gears to shoot it over red-line, my friend's mom did that while test driving an A4 and the tranny dropped out the bottom go dragged as they rolled into the dealer lot

You're ok. Now if you downshifted from 6th into 2nd and mechanically over-reved, then you may have a problem. At that point there is no fuel cut to save your ass.

I did the same. Was on it, from 5 to 6, but went 5 to 4 by accident. Hit the rev limiter. Pulled in the clutch, shook my head, and felt a bit sick to my stomach. Then I read the Hondata testing, where they redlined our Si over and over, repeadedly, day after day, took it appart, and it was all fine. This ECU is very smart, and basically won't let you damage the car less putting sand in the oil or sugar in the gas. You should be fine. I was.
