Slight ticking sound coming from the engine?

Hi everyone,

I just recently purchased a used 2 door 06 Civic SI with the following bolt ons: cold air intake(unknown brand, previous owner installed it), heavy duty clutch(not sure which brand, previous owner installed it), and greddy TI-Catback exhaust system. After changing my oil to royal purple 5W-30 synthetic, I've noticed a slight ticking sound coming from the engine bay whenever I slightly accelerate. I don't notice any loss in power whatsoever. I had a couple of friends drive my car and they all told me that it performs way better than new. Should I take it to the dealer and have them look at it? Just to let you guys and gals know, the car only has 7500 miles.

it's normal... unless it's knocking really bad then you have bent valves....but doubt it

The valve lash could possibly need an adjustment.

Previous owner could've mis-shifted throwing everything out of wack.

I tested the car with the AC off and now it's gone. The only time I hear it is when I switch on the AC. Just to be on the safe side, I'm gonna take it to the dealer on monday and have them take a look at it. Thanks for all the advice everyone!

Why did you switch to synthetic?

The reason why I switched to synthetic is because it provides better protection under hard driving conditions.

On my previous cars when I tried synthetic from standard oil my lifters started to tick right afterwords. I got annoyed with it and switched back, no more ticking. Now in my SI my first oil change was to synthetic and low and behold the ticking is back. I chalked it up as normal.

I also noticed a ticking when at idle after switching to Mobil 1 5w30 Full synthetic...don't hear it when I drive/accelerate...maybe its just me...is it normal? Why would it do it now after synthetic? Maybe it did it before and I never noticed.............hmmmmm
