Tennis ball knocking on rear passenger side.

I am totally sick of this car already, I have developed a new knocking noise on my rear passenger area. No matter what I do, I cannot pinpoint the problem, but it sounds like a tennis ball is bouncing up and down (instead of one thump, it sounds like something is loose and running around) in the back passenger area when I hit slight bumps at low speeds. At higher speeds the car is somewhat normal sounding, but the noise is still there.

At first it sounded like I had a flat in the back, but slowly I realized something is loose back there.

I've emptied the trunk completely to make sure it isnt anything back there moving, and put my rear seats down to make sure one of my amplifiers wasnt shifting around, but I can't pinpoint the problem.

Anyone knows what it can be?

I have had nothing but nightmares taking my car to the dealers, I don't know what to do anymore. I am already preparing for Honda to say that they cannot duplicate the problem, or they are going to blame my 18" HFP rims.

I wish I could just trade this car away at this point...on Monday I have to get my front passenger seat fixed (again) get that thump fixed, tell them about my ceiling rattling as I drive, fix a loose nut on the footrest near the brake pedal, fix an exposed airbag on the side passenger seat, my front visor is hanging a bit low on the drivers side, and I need to get an oil change.

I have Honda Care, but I somehow manage to pay for everything out of my wallet with these people.

Everything on the car is stock, except for the HFP Rims. 06 LX Coupe. (18")
I had a similar thump back there before, which turned out to be a mount of some sort, but this one is different, it sounds like something is loose and bouncing around.

I really stopped caring about the car. I stopped washing it, caring about how it looks inside, and try to avoid driving it because it just frustrates me to hell. After 2 years, I still haven't finished my audio project on the car because of all the rattling, and the car is a constant source of embarrassment when someone rides inside...and I end up arguing with any passengers who are in it tell them to shut up.

Honestly, my friends never want to ride with me because I get so angry when I drive it.

I am really hating this car, but dont want to take the hit of trading it in.

Damn dude! That's sad...man you gotta find a way to get rid of it or find a good dealership to fix your problems , it's not worth losing friends over.

Hmm my car doesnt' knock usually but sometime when I have my windows down. I hear like what you describe a tennish ball thumping at the passenger side.. I couldn't figure out what it is. Somtime I hear it even when my windows is up. It rarely does it though. Alot of time i was thinking its teh seat belt. It only does it only when no one is in the car.

I did that too. It's not the seatbelt. I clearly hear it when the back passenger tire hits a bump. It sounds almost as if I am driving on a flat tire.

I hear it clearly when the windows are up or down. When someone sat in the back seat, it somewhat went away, but the sound was still there. I wonder if I broke another mount, it was fixed once before under warranty.

What kills me is that everyone see's how frustrated I am with the cars build, and they keep offering opinions.

"damn, the car is new, you got jerked"
"damn, the car rattles here too"
"just get rid of this shit"

etc.etc.

It gets nerveracking after a while.

How much of a hit would I take if I just traded this in? I have some body damage, and the interior looks damaged (busted rear deck, exposed airbags, nothing lines up correctly, vibrating ceilings...)

I know cars should have issues, but my 10 year old Galant, never once had a rattle and I abused the hell out of that car.

I may make a formal complaint to Honda and the BBB about the build of these cars. It's a freaking joke already.

I was inferring your car is possesed by evil spirits. Linda blair played in the movie The Exorcist, where a priest had to expel the demons from her.

I'm just trying to add a little levity to your situation. I hope you're not upset.

I've got some issue going on @ the RR these days. I've always had somethign rattling that area. Well about three weeks ago, I'm coming down in a 25 mph zone, doin 25 in 3d, downshift to 2d and take the corner when I get a loud "BANG", loud enough it go the attention of two guys about 20 feet away. the car didn't move laterally but my first thought was that I had hit the curb but I knew that I wasn't even that close it.
So I park it, get out and look over the right rear. No marks on the rims (they're MINT), no scuff's on the tire. Hmmmmm......
Now lately it seems to be "floating" on that corner, a little more bounce than I remember. Something broke back there, and like the OP, I absolutely detest my local dealer. I'll have to visit another dealer when I travel an hour to my parent's house.
I'm thinking shock absorber...Ive been reading others are having problems with Si RR shocks.

Mine is 07 Si Sedan, 6K miles

I am hoping I won't have a bad time dealing with the dealer this time around. They had previously fixed the same noise before, and I am wondering if their fix somehow managed to undo itself.

I wanted to get an HFP Exhaust from a fellow member here, but the mental toll that this has taken from me makes me want to do nothing with the car.

What the heck did you do to it? Body Damage? Interior damage? Exposed Airbags... Geesh. I don't think I would give you anything for a trade in.
Maybe it's not the build quality but the Samsonite Gorilla driving the thing

I'm thinking blown shock, or a loose bump stop. Possibly a broken rear sway bar mount as well.

I've been too lazy to crawl under the car, but I'm gonna do it tonite just to have a look around. The way that mine made that "BANG" sound, something gave way. I mean, people turned and looked in my direction LOL
