driving question...

im new to the 06' si and new to stick shift in general. ive been driving for about 3 weeks straight and i got the stick shift thing down well, im nevre stalling out but i do have a question. i know it has the drive by wire system, but whenever i shift the rpm needle goes up like a 100rpms maybe when i press the clutch in and shift. is this normal? i hope this made sense kinda.

it sounds like you are just not quite taking your foot off of the gas quickly enough, it is normal for the rpm to hang up there for a second but i have never seen them jump higher before

yeah you see it happens only sometimes and when it does happen it usually happens while going from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to third. like ill be flooring it and then ill let off the gas and slam the clutch and it will go up like... barely even a 100rpms probably (yes a 100 not a 1000 hehe).

its normal. Its not that you're not letting off the gas, cause I'm sure you are. This happens on most DBW cars...the extra rpm you get is the lag time in when the car finally realizes you've gotten off the gas. If you shift quick in the upper rev range, it'll do it more pronounced (I've gotten it to go about 200rpm at times). It used to happen in my old Jetta and now my Civic (it worried me back when I had my Jetta cause I could climb into my 95 Civic and it never did it, but when I found out what it was...from reading on forums, too...then it made sense). I wouldn't worry about it.

The 'REV hang' is programed into the DBW map. Its for emissions, burning off unspent fuel.
