emission/inspection

For those of you with race headers or anything that makes you fail emissions, what do you guys do to pass the test?

The only way you're going to pass is to uninstall the RH & re-install the stock sytem. Yes, it's a PITA but you do want to pass?

Not true, I passed my state inspection easily. As for the Emission, I'm taking it to Honda. I've heard from honda techs that they plug your car up to a computer and check to see if everything is running light. If there is no CEL then you pass.

I believe there are 2 different emission tests in NY state, the "upstate" test is a OBD II test like that^ guy said and yes, basically if your check engine light is not on then you will pass. The other is a sniff test, done in the NY city metropolitan area. I don't know much about that test.
So basically it depends on what type of test your state or location in that state does, sounds like you might pass one but not the other.

before we actually hook a car up to the inspection machine, we plug this tool in to the obd2 port and it will tell us if the car will pass. As long as the CEL is off the car should pass.

I was on the assumption that they were getting the sniffer test. A "sniffer" or talepipe test is a definite fail with a RH. I just installed a BCRH on my FA5 last weekend & I'm no machine but trust me my nose says my car is stinkier fo sho.

Is modifying the race header an option? There is a user on this board who cut his Buddy Club race header and welded on a Magnaflow HFC onto it.
