What bearing issue? I do not think my si has a bearing issue. What is this issue?

I am debating on just verifying the bumpstop P/N next weekend. ( I can't make any numbers out, so I will have to drop the complete strut). I gotta go to the field for probably through this weekend. If the P/N is the culprit, then I will order the bump stop through Honda. 2 bumpstops comes to a screaming total of 15 bucks, case of brew 15 bucks, and the time it takes to replace it.

Drove another 30 miles yesterday to Stamford Ct, and White Plains NY. Hit some bumps, dips, hills, 'n turns. NO POP. Since i heard this sound right off the lot i am crossing my fingers that this did get fixed. I also have noticed i had a very subtle pull to the drivers side in the allignment at highway speeds. That is gone. So i don't know if this improved the ride or alliagnment, no allignment was mentioned on the invoice. I am glad.

Just got my popping TSB done too. They also had to do an alignment as the front suspensions were basically all torn to pieces to replace the bump stops. My alignment was a bit off before (slight pull to the left), and now that's fixed too :) I'll post if I hear any popping still...

I had the TSB done about a month ago..while the pop is less frequent and not quite as loud..i have heard it a couple times since

oh well, I'll be doing HFP or some suspension upgrade soon anyhow...if that doesn't work ill be worried then..

Popping

Being new to the forum, I can't tell you how relieved I am to have found it! My 07 Civic Coupe has been popping since I drove it off the lot in August. I took it in and the service states "replaced shock stoppers" but it didn't help at all. As of now, since this forum has been going on for several months, has anyone found the real solution? I'm going to my old Honda dealership where they know me and actually care, rather than the one I purchased my car from.

it's weird, i work at honda as a tech. and my 07 has this issue, so i can just replace them under warranty, even though it's not in the effected VIN range. but my wife's 06(which all 06's are supposedly effected), has never popped once! also, i noticed mine doesn't do it with my stock wheels on, but does when i put on my 14 lb traklite's. weird.

Once Per Drive...

Has anyone else had this same noise ONLY after the car has sit for several hours? I only hear it when I hit the first reasonable sized bump (nothing huge) and then the sound never happens again while I'm driving. The next time I drive (after the car has been parked for an hour or two) same concept... Very odd behaviour, and it's one of the "newer" 07 Sedan models that aren't affected by this TSB...

go buy both bump stops for the front left and right struts(dampers), there 10.30 cents a piece, part number 51722-sva-ao3 for the 2dr, and part number 51722-sna-ao3 for the 4dr, (note, the 4dr bump stops are 18 bucks a piece).. with 2 people should only take you 2 hours to do both, if thats not the cause oh well you only spent 20 bucks and still replaced 2 defective parts..

I have a 07 2dr Si that says wasn't affected by the bump stops yet were the problem and have already been resolved.

Maybe by being parked for a while the bump stops inner diameter gets caught on the damper piston causes the rubbing, same with larger bumps, but from normal driving they pop back into place.

If it sounds like rubbing noise thats NOT metal on metal its the bump stops. Anything else could be the top pillow mount or highly unlikely a controle arm or braking system problem. I'd bet its your bump stops though. Good luck

EDIT

To the previous poster, I replaced both my bump stops by myself in just under two hours. However two people helps due to having to push the damper back into the mount, just makes things easier, or get a floor jack like I did. Just dont pull on the axel and pop it out, creates more work. ITS CAKE!!!

Theres only 2 bolts and an ABS line bolt that needs to be taken off on the bottom of the strut, and 3 mounting bolts up top that need to be taken off to remove the entire strut, from there unscrew the top locking nut, remove old bump stop, put new one on, and replace. Pretty straight forward.. Good luck..

I could have written your post. Exactly the same "symptoms". Exactly. Collecting enough information from the posts on here to back me up before I go to the dealership since I've already had the replacement of the "shock stoppers", as they called them, done.

Hi,
I've posted this in other threads with the same topic. I read the whole thread but haven't had anyone mention the 2008 models. Well guess what guys?? I have a 08 si coupe. I've had it for like 3 weeks now and 700 miles on it. I've noticed that popping noise from day one! Along with a whole bunch of other things. In fact i heard it this morning driving on my way to work. I haven't contacted my local dealer, but i can only imagine the BS i'm going to get from them. And sure know, that taking the TSB would do nothing because my car falls waaaayyy out of range from that. but either way i am going to let them know, so they can make a record of it.

I fell outside of the tsb and honda fixed it. no cost. 2 months ago, 1200 miles later and no popping. I was lucky though. Service manager was an si owner, and he heard it pop twice during our ride along.

I live on Long Island too and have had to most horrific experience trying to get the clicking noise coming from my right front fixed. I have been back about 7 times trying to get them to resolve it. Its been a nightmare.

Meanwhile just to make matters harder to prove, it appears my clicking noise stops in the cold weather. It clicked all summer long and on every warm day in the fall, now that its cold it doesnt click, which I assume means I cant get it fixed until next effing summer.
