Great Service Center In White Plains NY
NEWS.
I took my car in today to the the White Plains Honda of NY. The Service manager Craig was a totally awesome guy. Not only was he an Si enthusiast, but he also was familiar with the front suspension issues with the civic. He drove my car, and it popped before we even left the parking lot. Then it popped AGAIN after sitting in traffic, and hitting a dip down a hill. He was gonna get a whole new strutt assembly. I then produced the TSB that i printed, and i was like,. "you may not need to get a whole new assembly". He may or may not have been aware of the TSB, but he asked to keep it. All in all, I do believe this will get 100% cared for by my Honda Dealer. It was also awesome that it popped twice, and that the manager was an Si owner himself. side note: an Si Sedan owner was picking up his car as i was droppign off. I shot the breeze with himfor 5 min. Told him about the pop. and He was like "yeah i have noticed that a few times,. that ain't normal?" so theres another si sedan owner that has the pop. If Honda doesn't upgrade this TSB to a Recall, they could be lokking at a some real bad press. What are the odds 2 si sedan owners meet, and they both have the pop? |

I have to take mine in on Friday to replace the rear strut and shock, because of a creaking noise it's been making when under 10 mph.
I want to take in the TSB to them on this as well, but mine only makes the sound 2-3 times a day, if that. I had to drive the guy around last time just so he would hear the rear strut creaking, because he could not hear it. I'm just worried they wont give 2 shits about this TSB because my Si only makes the "pop" about 2-3 times a day, as mentioned before... and I will bet my life they wont even hear it when I take it in for them to check out. Any suggestions? |

. Or if you had someone else do it for you, then pay them again to install the new (cut) bumpstops. |

I've got an '07 Si Coupe. Front left suspension pops once or twice per drive after it has sat a while. The dealer replaced the strut and it still pops. My VIN seems to be out of range for the TSB so I wonder if it has the new bump stops and I'm hearing a different problem, or if the TSB VIN range should have been extended.

You're out of the TSB range? That is crappy that you are still having the problem. If you take it back in, have them LOOK at the bumpstop to make sure that it's the same part number as the one in the TSB. If not, then have them put in the new one listed from the TSB.
FYI, I know it's on the first page, but here's the models in within the TSB: 2006 Civic 2-Door Si – ALL 2006 Civic 4-Door: From VIN 1HGFA1...6L000001 thru 1HGFA1...6L137665 From VIN 2HGFA1...6H500001 thru 2HGFA1...6H528035 2007 Civic 2-Door EX A/T: From VIN 2HGFG128.7H500001 thru 2HGFG128.7H500056 2007 Civic 2-Door Si: From VIN 2HGFG215.7H100001 thru 2HGFG215.7H100199 |

Is this part of the same TSB? I went to the dealer yesterday and went on a test drive with them and couldnt get the noise to repeat...#$%#$%#$ Any suggestions? Also getting a creeping noise fron the sunroof cover...anyone else...and how was it fixed? The mechanic noticed it right away...very anoying! Last edited by JORGEMEDE; 09-12-2007 at 09:26 AM. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2maN6JEYX58 I challenge ALL people you use what aver video or audio recorders they have, and record the popping noise in thier cars. post it on youtube under, "Civic Si Popping Noise" and maybe we can elevate this bullshit TSB in to a full scale recall! So that this problem is addressed and we all are taken care of by honda's lapse in quality control and enginering for this problem. |

I have an 06 Si and an 07 Si and I have never heard this popping sound. It does sound very distinct in the videos though. I'm getting the motor mount inspected and hopefully the bumpstops are ok.
My problem is being in Canada and the fact the the dealerships here are usually several months behind when it comes to the TSB's and most of the Service Advisors won't even acknowledge a US TSB if I show it to them. What I have done is bought my regular Service Tech a case of beer and he looked up the morotr mount TSB. Hopefully the bump stop one he can dig up for me too. Oh, and just a comment/observation.... If the suspension is making these popping sounds but there is no problems with the suspension mechanically or the way the car drives and handles, maybe that's just the sound the suspension makes. |

took my car in today, they claim they heard a noise, but wouldnt acknowledge the TSB because my VIN was not on it...so instead, they "re-torqued" everything and claimed the noise stopped. HAH...oh, and get this...i tinted my tails with vinyl film. on the rear 1/4 panel where the tail light and the 1/4 panel meet, the factory did a crap paint job and it looked as if it were peeling..i told them to fix it best they could without repainting anything, basically a touch up...they did, but they did what i couldve done in a second with some touch up paint, claiming this statement on my receipt "appears customer removed and modified tail light", blaming me for the factory crap paint job...HAH!

I went into my honda dealership today. I asked about the ever so awesome bearing issue with our cars. And of course the popping sound I get from the driver's side front of the car when hitting bumps, especially when it is wet. They did the VIN stuff. Of course my car's not in it.
I then asked if they would bounce the part number from my car with the revised part number for the bump stop. The service manager got a dickhead look on his face when I asked him this question. He then told me that if his technicians didn't find anything, they couldn't fix it under warranty. I asked to go with the technician to replicate the problem. Again, another dickhead look but he obliged. So now I got an appointment on Tuesday to get my car looked at. Im gonna take it to the car wash with the technician inside the car. That always makes my car's front end reproduce the sound EVERY SINGLE BUMP! |
