You can bet I'm going to raise hell if they say they aren't going to do it. If Honda put it out, clearly there was a reason for it.

Man oh man I have never seen a car company handle TSBs and recalls as poorly as Honda. I swear to God I'm furious about this.

If there isn't a fix for third gear pretty soon, I'm selling the car. I've had it with how Honda has treated me with this. For every recall and TSB, I have had to find it online and pretty much beg them to do it with downloaded proof.

If it weren't for this site, none of the recalls or TSBs would be done, because they loooove to tell me "There are none listed for your car" everytime I'm in there. I've had it.
That sucks man... Sounds like your dealership is junk. Mine did the TSB for the bump stop (which fixed it BTW) even though my car was out of the VIN range... I didn't even bring it up, I told them about the popping, sat in the waiting room for a few and they told me they were replacing my bump stop.

so get this, i put in my new tokico struts and eibach springs, and instead of using the new bumpstops i bought online, i was lazy and used the old ones! now the popping sound is still there. however, would there have to be pressure on the bumpstop for it to bind? just because i lowered my car doesnt mean that now the strut is compressed to the point that its resting on the bumpstop, especially since i cut it. i dont know, im tired of dealing with it and i think im just gonna say f it.

it could be binding, or sticking at the top of the damper shaft, then getting fired down when strut is compressed. Hence causing the pop noise when it slides down the shaft and hits the bottom of the strut.

the reason they said that they could not replace it was because the bump stop that was on the recall was not the correct one.. It was not the correct size or even fit into the hole...

My car only make the popping noise when i turn right when it is like 9degrees outside.. so i am not to worried about it

Solution

I Have An 2007 Civic Si Sedan And I Had The Same Problem After I Installed My Tein S-techs, At First I Thought It Was The Bearing Hub Assembly. It Was The Bump Stops, I Called Tein Myself And They Told Me That It Needs To Be Cut At Least 1" Inch Or The First Loop On The Bump Stop. You Will Need To Remove The Whole Springs. To Be Able To Get To Them. Hope Tgis Helps!

Thanks Guys

My 2008 does it all the time. The dealer say because there is no TSB for my model they won't even try changing the bump stops. Oh well, it's just noise and this car makes all kinds of noise. At least it's not going to fall apart.

I've got an '08 and I get a small "pop" from the left front strut once in a while usually in a parking lot or when turning right on a street that has a deeper than average gutter which places more force across the sway bar. If the noise is just the bump stop I'm not going to worry about it. I thought it might have been how the spring coils stack and rub. Doesn't seem to be a big deal and as long as it's not going to tear something up early I'd rather leave it than try to have Honda tear it down. The closest dealer is about 100 miles from home for me.

No 07 si sedans? I had this problem but it seems fine now. Haven't heard the bump for 5000+ miles.

Anybody else with an '08 SI sedan that has this problem?

I hear the popping noise in the driver's side front quarter area when going over bumps at slow speed and turning simultaneously. Service department could not replicate. I can't believe '08s would be affected by this. Anybody else have this problem too? I'll ask them to take another look next time I take it in for service. All in all, I've had the car for 2 months now and will never buy another Honda due to the many other quality issues I've had. Canada is becoming the new Detroit for quality.

I have the same problem in my 07 civic ex coupe. I took it to the Stealership and they told me they couldn't replicate the problem. I came back to the dealership with TSB in hand and demanded that I take a ride with a tech so that he can here it. First turn he takes it happens, then 2nd turn it happens, so on and so on. It happened like 10 times durning a 5 minute ride. They put the car on the lift again and then came out and told me that they are going to do the TSB (since i had it in my hand) and that they are also going to do a drivers side strut mount. Hopefully this fixes it because i am sick of fighting with the dealership to get my car fixed.

UPDATE: Got my car back from the dealer and the problem is fixed with TSB 07-043. No more popping or clunking noises. All of it was covered under warranty.

My 07 FG2 had this problem and now my 08 FA5 has it. I'm going to make an appointment next week and let you all know what happens.
