Just a shot in the dark since I have very little info, but is it manual or automatic? Either way, there should be something (PRNDL switch in auto, neutral switch on manual) which tells the computer if it is in gear or in neutral. Many ECU's set the rev limiter lower when free-revving. If this did not get hooked up properly (or at all) it could cause this problem.
Any more information about this engine switch? More info would be helpful. |
