Gas left with gas light on

Okay well just did a little research the other day. When our gas light is on and no bars left on the gas gauge, we have roughly 1.3 gallons of gas left in our tank. Just thought I'd let everyone know, cause I like to go on long road trips with as little fill ups as possible.

My light comes on with 2 bars left. Maybe they're both right? Light comes on with 1.9 left, with no bars still have 1.3?

Yeah when the light comes on there's around 1.9 gallons left, I looked in the manual last night.

so that would mean you could probably safely go another 40-60 miles after that light comes on, depending on your driving.

Keep that fuel pump submerged in gas and it should last longer (keeps it cooler). I keep it above 1/4 tank (5 bars). Even though I refuel more often it seems less expensive, because each fill is only about $35.

should be same for R18, BTW, theres a back up tank to keep the fuel pump happy even if u have 0 bars left on the meter

I do remember reading that, now that you mention it, I guess the fuel pump could sit in there quite happily.

IIRC it's just reserve fuel, not a "back up tank". Reserve really just means that there's a little fuel beneath the measuring threshold to help keep the pump happy even for people who are crazy enough to run it down to near empty before they fill up again.
