Question check engine light?

So i've got 3,000 miles on my car now and a check engine light came on when I started my car this morning. My friend scanned them and it turns out to be...

P0135-o2 sensor heater circuit

and

P0498-evaporative emission system vent valve control circuit low

has anyone had this problem or know what they do?

Oxygen sensors only work when they are above approximately 650 degrees. Rather than waiting untill the exhaust heats up, the O2 sensor has a small heating element to bring it up to operating temp quickly. The O2 heater circuit code means the computer has detected a problem with the O2 sensor heater.

As fuel evaporates in the fuel tank, it builds pressure. This pressure has to be vented. Rather than venting it to the atmosphere, it goes to a charcoal filled canister which traps the fumes. When you drive there is a small valve which opens and allows the engine to draw these fumes into the intake and burn them, reducing evaporative emissions. The P0489 code means the computer detected a problem with the vent valve or the control circuit for it.

Hope this helps with the what. As for the why, you would be best off going to the dealer if it is still under warranty. If it is not under warranty (high mileage, etc.) try resetting the codes and see if they come back. If they do, you will have to have these systems (O2 sensor, Evaporative Emission system) checked out.

My car 06 FG2 with 5k miles went in on friday to the shop and they confirmed 02 sensor needs replaced. Just FYI my dealership doesn't stock it. It does throw a cel. That's the same code mine threw when I went to autozone.

Check engine will come on if you fuel your car with the engine on. Not immediately, sometimes a few days later. Comes up as an evaporative leak. Try disconnecting your battery for a hour. If it doesnt come back, your fine.

This happened on my pops 02 odyssey

My LXsedan got 620 miles on it, and the engine light was on, i dunno how long it been on but i juss notice it, but im sure it juss turned on sometimes today...

so i took it to my dealership, the salesman was like it could be the rain from last night n some water had got in or something, and their mechanic department was closed for the day so i dunno.....

anybody ever heard of water from rain drippin into ur gas tank (mayb due to the fact the cap wasnt on tightly) or anythin similar that makes ur engine light go on????

my car has no mod n its performance is excellent as usual....

please help, this is worrying me, im very anal about my car since its my first
