Sucking water with AEM CAI

Has anyone sucked any water in after washing their car. I don't know what the deal is? After i washed my car i was going to go for a drive as i took off it hesitated then it was putt-putting wanting to turn off. Then the I got a CEL do u guys think this has anything to do with the CAI or did i just wet my distributor. I'm wigging out cuz i don't want to take the car in to honda

Did you find some opening in the bumper and intentionally aim for the filter? Just reset the computer by disconecting the neg cable on the battery and putting it back on after 15min or so. Go for a drive and if it doesn't happen again, you're good.

If you have an SI , you don't have a distributor. Have you started your car up again? Is is fine. AEM CAI's used to have issues with bogging down. I only got CELs with mine when it was raining out.

My car has had more than enough baths. 1 a week since I've owned it. WHen I'm home ofcourse to mess with it. It's been power sprayed and soaked, and I've never had a problem with it. Check your MAF sensor and make sure it's seated properly and you're not somehow, getting water down on to it.

Listen up people, for the last time. You have to seriously suck up a sh*tload of water in order to hydro-lock with a CAI in this car. Quick being paranoid!

yea just yesterday i washed my car...drove it a few feet from the driveway and into the garage and put it in park. it stuttered and stalled on me. i started the car again and it shook pretty violently and died on me again. i'm pretty sure its the CAI. got me thinking of buying a bypass. i'd suggest that you let the car sit after you wash your car. after an hour and a half i took it for a drive and most of the water had dried up.

You can't put a bypass on this car's CAI. In order to do so, it would have to be 6-8 inches from the throttle body and at an equal elevation to the TB. Our CAI drops off like Niagra. If you're that worried, get an SRI.

How are you guys worried about hydrolocking from washing your car? Are you opening the hood, and sticking the hose down to the intake? Just curious.

LMAO. What a mental image that makes! The CELs I've gotten where only in damp, rainy weather when I had my A/C on, so I figure whatever it is that causes them do it must be from the MAF sensor. Hell, one dealership in Delaware just told me, "it's normal. TC's do it too. Just drive through it. It won't hurt the car. In about 30 minutes it should go away." Sure enough it did. WEird.

its pretty tough to hydro lock a car unless u just about submerge the entire filter in water. just washing ur car will not do it, unless like stated u pretty much shove the hose in the intake

I just PM'ed Marc-o Cant wait for the ep!

For the record, I've driven through a thunderstorm without a problem with my Fujita. By the way I got home, the filter was literally wet. It wasn't dripping wet but your hands would get wet by touching it. Like some say, you really gotta suck a load of water to hydrolock.
