Temperature gauge concerns
I want to verify with the 8thcivic folks (especially Si owners) whether their temperature gauge shows "1 bar" or "no bars" light up when they start up the engine. The reason I ask is because I don't recall seeing any "bars" light up on the temperature gauge when I start up the engine UNTIL yesterday morning.
Since yesterday morning, I've been noticing that everytime I turn on the ignition when the engine is cold, "1 bar" would light up on the temp gauge. Is this normal? However it doesn't seem like I have problems with the car's temperature. It doesn't go over "9 bars" on the temperature gauge after it's warmed up. So my question is how many "bars" light up on the temp gauge when you turn on your ignition with the engine being cold? |

none light up for me in the morning, but it has been hot as hell here so even after 9-11 hours of work (car sits outside) i usually have one bar when I start it up. I think you should be ok.

Thanks... I don't know.. because I park in my garage and the temperature is around 65-70F in the morning... probably colder in my garage since it's a dark and closed off area. I don't see why one bar would light up after the car has been sitting there for 12-14 hours. I'm kind of worried, because I've drove my car REALLY hard this past weekend. I took my car to Thunderhill Raceway and put about 90 miles of track time in one day. I hope she's still healthy. |

Just take it to Honda if you're worried.
It's hotter weather, so I'm sure the car is just getting to that 1-bar temperature a lot sooner. My car has 2 bars before I even get it pulled out of the garage and out of the driveway when it's hot like this. Did it last summer and it's doing it this summer as well so I'm not worried. |

I can see why it would have 2 bars for you since you live in KS. Like I said I park in the garage over night for 12-14 hours. The temperature is between 60-75 currently. I just don't think it's that hot. I'll check w/ others in my area. Thanks Ryan. |

once you drive around for a bit doesnt the bars get around to the middle?
my si starts up with 1 bar and then eventually as it warms up it sits in the middle. the same thing happened with my corolla, it sat at the bottom until i drove around for a bit. i don't really think this is a problem with the car.. hopefully that helps? lol |
