Cruise control doesn't work

Ok, I know there are other Civic forums out there more suited for this but I like this one and I'm sure some of you have owned a 6th gen before. Besides, the other ones are blocked on my work computer.

My 97 EX Coupe's cruise control doesn't work anymore. It seems to work electrically, i.e. all the lights come on as if it is working, yet it doesn't. It just slows down when I let off the gas.

I think I heard somewhere there is a cable that can sometimes come off the pedal?? If so where might this cable be?

Any help is appreciated.

its connected to the throttle not the pedal...there r so many things that can be wrong ur best bet is to take it in for service

Throttle, got it. That's why I had pedal italicized, wasn't really sure. I'd rather not take it in cause it's like $70 for a diagnostic
