Help! Can't get into reverse!

The reverse gear on my 2007 Si just died on me today. It started giving me trouble this week when it became realy hard to engage the reverse. I would be able to get it into the reverse position, but it wouldn't engage(the clank sound). Now, when I try to put it in reverse, it seems like nothing's there. The "wall" between 6th and reverse seems to be gone... I installed the corsport shifter bushings a while ago, could that be why its messed up?

The only mods I have is Comptech ss, twm base bushings, and corsport shifter bushings.

Thanks in advance.

Put it in first, engage clutch and move forward slightly, then put it in reverse. If that doesn't work, remove the non-OEM bushing.

I dont have the mods, but by the looks of the install guides and whatnot, it's a pretty good assumption that your problem lies in the replacement parts. I'd take it apart and at least have a peek to make sure it all looks groovy.

I saw the thread and immediately thought electrical cable stuck due to CAI install. I had that problem initially when I installed my CAI before I cable tied everything. Shifting (on the lift) was difficult, then saw the cable jammed in there. Oops!

From pg 197 of the owners manual:

1. With the clutch pedal pressed, moe the shift lever to the first/second gear side of the neutral gate, then shift to reverse.

2. If you are still unable to shift to reverse, apply the parking brake, and turn the key to the ACCESSORY (I) or LOCK (0) position.

3. Press the clutch pedal, and shift into reverse.

4. With the clutch pedal still pressed, start the engine.

If you need to use this procedure to shift to reverse, your vehicle may have developed a problem, such as non-OEM aftermarket bushing installation. Have the vehicle checked by your dealer.

What he said. It's a habit for me now to move it into a forward gear (usually first) before shifting into reverse.

Nevermind. I found a thread similar to mines. The guy just put everything back to stock and got it fixed under warrenty at the dealership.

Now how do I get the C clamps off the bushing?

Well, if you didn't take off the shift link holder before the install, you might kink or bend the cables. I guess that's what happened to me. When I was trying to unbolt the holder, the socket snapped and I had no way of pushing the link back on, so I tried to jam it in there, so I think that's why its bent. If anyone plans to install the bushings, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE OUT THE LINK HOLDER FIRST! (the thing holding the links with 3 bolts)

yea it sounds like you guys may have broken the rod inside the shifter cable when you changed the cable bushings.

i dont think there is an easy fix if there some thing wrong with that bushing assembly that thing would probably a semi-big fix because of the cables and connectors on the transmission, where the problem could originate from.

I took a good look at it today while my friend was shifting through the gears.
This is how it looks when I open the hood...

This is what I can do with the sleeve..It is in no way connected

This is what it looks like after I re-allign the cable to get it into reverse

Do all of you have the cable bushings installed? The pictures up there looks like the cable loosened up and it shouldn't be....The plug should at least always be hovering just inside that plug...wierd. I'll look under my hood later, to confirm. I don't have the cable bushings, btw.
