electronic power steering problem

ive posted this up before, i get in the car and start it up, go to turn the wheel and it jerks like a half an inch and locks up cuz the power is dead, and the eps light is on the dash. i have taken it to the dealership but they couldnt find the problem. it happens every now and again, all i do is shut the car off and restart and its fine. just curiouse if any one has had the same problem

They should have pulled up a DTC code from the EPS system.

Is it a reoccuring problem or just a one time deal? Might want to go a different dealer, EPS system might be faulty..

it is a reoccuring problem, i normally let the car idle after start up until 1500 rpm. if i wait a lil longer than that then i got to turn the wheel it locks, it doesnt happen every time but just enough to piss me off. \

the dealership i went to looked at it and said that unless the car is here while the eps light is on then they can not tell what it is, so i am trying to figure out if i can make the light go on while i am there, because i am not goin to drive about 15 min on a major highway to the delership with the eps off.

That's odd.. Usually they could pull up (Using the HDS) a history of DTC codes. Unless the problem you are having does not have a DTC associated to it. It might be mechanical more so than ECU related... I have my dealer service manuals at home, I'll dig up some stuff for you when I get home.

thanks alot. i know it sounds easy,"just take it to the dealership".

i really dont want to drive it there in that condition, or have to leave it there over night so when it starts up for the first time in a couple of hours it will set the eps light on the dash, let me know what you find, thanks again

no, i did read that thread about the guy that got the header and the heat shield melted the wires, thats not my case.

it has never acted up while i was driving, if it did i would be like

it mostly happens in the winter while i let it warm up ( agian i dont wait like 10 min or nothing, just till about 1500). im sure someone had this happen,

other mods that might maybe just a lil have something to do with it,
8k hid kit
custom led bars and neon inside

Sorry to bring this thread up.. Im having the same problem with my power steering. Sometime the eps light will come on when i start up the car and I have to turn off the car and start the car again for the power steering to work again. Did you fix yours yet hondasi006?
