Ok so i recently purchased a black 07 si with 6000 miles on it. Upon recipt of the car (it was shipped from north carolina), i drove around and realized the clutch wasn't grabbing correctly. i was getting shitty acceleration until i hit abbout 5thousand RPMs. So i hadnt had the car for more than 3 hours before i took it to my local honda dealer to get it checked out because its still in the factory warranty. The service manager took my car for a spin and came back and said "yeah....somethings screwed up". So i set an appointment to get it worked on the next day. I also told them i needed the new reflash because my car had fallen into the Vin range on that other post
!st-4th gear, shitty acceleration till about 5k then was decent to say the very least 5-6th gear - useless. Only if i wanted low RPMS on the highway. Try to accelerate and the rpms go up, but the MPH stay the same So i call them today and they tell me that something is majorly wrong with the transmission and it needs to be replaced. "The transmission shows signs of abuse so we are waiting for a specialist from honda to come in and look and make sure this falls under the parameters of warranty". They told me i might have to pay out of pocket for this and they cant give me a loaner right now because they dont know if its going to fall under warranty I start to flip out. I immediately call the place i bought the car from and explained the situation. They said they are going to get it allieviated for me and i wont have to pay for a thing. I take solace in that for now...but i wont know for sure until the guy goes to look at it and approve it. Im just scared of the shit i potentially may have to deal with. So the question i pose to you is this. How does a transmission that is only 6000 miles in get beaten up so bad that it doesnt catch and shows signs of abuse? Ive been driving stick for awhile and i dont think i can think of a realistic situation where you would expect a 6 speed transmission on a sports car to go to shit in 6000 miles. You think they are really going to try to get me to pay for this, even under factory warranty. I've never delt with their service and i dont know what to expect. I'm a honda noob...and im scared |

Maybe your car was used as a test drive, and someone might have miss a downshift and screwed the tranny. I've witnessed this kind of abuse from the dealership guys, like driving the accord v6 AT as if it were manual, burn outs, and that kind of stuffs.

Btw.driving AT as manual wont hurt the tranny.Maybe around 100K it isn't a very good idea, but If you read your manual(I have AT),there is a mention about driving AT as manual with no problems. But back to topic. 3 choices:Your tranny has been faulty from very begining or it has been overfluided and it ruined some of the gears or the clutch is bad. This problems should be covered under the waranty no question asked. If they are going to screw you up and make you pay for it,just call Honda 800# to file a claim and let them send a specialist to take a look at your car(other than they requested).Try to get some kind of statement from the place you bought the car from saying the car wasn't abused at any way and it wasn't inspected closely at the time of the purchase. This way your dealership is not gonna be able to put it on them or even you.Good luck ![]() PS:Get a loaner and make them pay for it.Or just ask them for one.Be firm .With this kind of problem you can be pretty sure its gonna be covered under the waranty. the problem should be...
did u get the car at a fair or below fair price? And you bought a used car meaning u know nothing about the original owner as to what he did to the car... |
