O2 sensor removal problem...please help

Okay guys.....so I go ahead to install my RT cat on my si and everything is going smoothly except the rear o2 sensor. The front one came out without incident, but I got the rear one to turn one revolution and then it gets incredibly difficult to turn. It literally feels like it's going to strip out or snap. Has anyone experienced trouble getting this rear o2 sensor out of the stock cat? Please advise If I go strip this thing...what's the worse case scenario?? Thanks
