good lord.

The more I read about these common Si problems, the less I want one...

I can't STAND the 'side airbag off' light in my RSX when my GF is leaning the wrong way in the passenger seat... how would I ever put up with a 'loose gas cap' light?!!?

Is it on the dash by the tach?

grrr...

Yes it is, right under it where the mileage is. I just got the infamous "check fuel cap" today and hope it goes away soon.

Between this light and the TPMS light, that could get really annoying really quick...

No worries, it went away yesterday afternoon. So it took about a full day to clear.

nice update.

Between when it came on and went off did you touch it at all? (the gas cap you pervs...) I mean, did you get gas or tighten it or anything? or did you just drive and then suddenly it went away?

That'd be an annoyance if it just started randomly coming on...

It came on Monday night. I had filled the car up with gas on Friday night and didn't drive it anywhere over the weekend. After the light came on, I opened the gas cap (which was already tight) and put it back on. That was it. So I'd say it came on randomly.

Hmmmm....

Thanks for the info. Like I said, I'm really weird about dash lights. My GF can't sit straight in my RSX seat and it causes the 'side airbag off' light to light up so I always reach over and pull her center so it's not on. My last car had brake work done and the ABS light stayed on... annoyed the crap outta me... My first car ever, I installed an OEM spoiler and the connection for the LED light was loose so I'd always get a 'Brake Lamp' light until I went and jiggled the wires... I HATE annoying dash lights and if this "gas cap" light in the Si is common, I will be pissed and may not get one. (or the TPMS light...)

grrr...

Considering the gas cap issue goes away in a few days, I still don't have any gripes about the car and would still highly recommend it to anyone. I love the 2 tier instrument panel and digital speedometer.

old thread but it deserves a revival... to bring it to the top of the pile...

I got the same error 3 days ago. but my problem might be differant. You see i ran over a curb, it was a little one that seperated a driveway, i went into the wrong one and didnt want to reverse turnaround then go into the next one so i ran it over, well it made a horrable scrape noize all the way across the car.

then the verry next day it gave me the code?, the lines are hidden away in a rail so i dont think they got cut or pinched so i dont know?, on a positive note im not leaking any fuel and it doesnt smell like fuel in the cabin.

if it doesnt go away by monday, im resetting the ecu and then going to the dealer to have it checked out...

I could have stopped but then i might have ripped off my front bumper? so i kept going while i still had some momentum...

Well add me to the damn list. check gas cap light came on out of nowhere. I even pulled over to check the lid and it was perfectly tight.

Manual clearly says press the Sel/reset button to clear it. Nope that doesnt work. Why the hell would they tell you to press the reset button if it wont clear the message.

Just turn the gas cap till it clicks a 2-3 times and drive the car for a little while. It will go away eventually.
