Can't Open Driver's Door! *pics*

I've had my Si for 700 miles/20+ days. It's been fine, except that on Saturday I noticed that when I opened my driver's door the full degrees for the first time, I heard a popping sound with some resistance. I looked at the doorjamb near the fender and saw that my door molding had made contact with my fender! To close the door, the fender again made contact, leaving little paint scrapes inside the door and slightly bulging out.

So now when I open the door, it touches the fender and makes a sickening (for a new car) sound and I know it's popping the fender.

Needless to say, I've been shuffling myself out of the passenger side since. I have a service appointment with my dealer tomorrow AM.

Anyone else had this problem when opening their door fully? I'd read some panel misalignment threads, but nothing like this. Here are some quick Treo pics:

And yes, that's my HFP kit coming apart from the chassis. Cheap Honda glue used in just three dabs.

I haven't had that problem with the door jamb, but I have that problem with my HFP body kit.

I wonder if it's because of misaligned doors, etc??

Many people not specifically on SI's have complained of misaligned doors and such!

Hope it doesn't turn out to be a pre-sale wrecked civic.

Check your owners manual. There should be a booklet with a check list of things check prior to you taking the car.

Your door gaps look way off. How did this car pass the inspection..unless something broke on the hinge.

I think it's a slightly misaligned door. The hinge seems to work just fine. I have plenty of pics, like below, where the car looks seamless. When I opened the door, it must've pushed the fender in, causing its current look. But why wouldn't this happen until I open the door completely?

Has your door ever been grabbed by a really strong wind when you opened it, causing to go to the limit of the hinge and bounce back?

Naw, can't say that's happened. I dropped it off at the dealership this evening after getting a second opinion (thanks man!), so we'll see what's what.

If you've had the car for less then 30 days get a refund and get something else. I cant believe this shit happening with the civics its pathetic. I don't think the civic is built with care or pride in Canada where its made, its like the Canadian workers slapped it together roughly and didnt give a shit how its made. Where is HOA?!? quality control anyone?!. If it was made in Japan the quality would be much better. Canadian made civics have quality issues.

Is the driver's door exterior moulding/trim piece centered properly on the door? or does it stick out pass the front edge of the door?

*Update*

I took it back to my dealership, and of course they thought that the car'd been in an accident. Nonetheless, they pulled out the fender and everything lines up well. My service advisor said that the work wouldn't be warrantied, but I didn't raise a stink because my repair order says nothing to that effect. I'll post some pics when I get home. So nice to have my car back and be able to get in on the driver's side. Rep for udumkid who gave me the skinny on what my dealership did and didn't do right when installing HFP stuff on my car.

It looks to me like your car has an aftermarket molding installed. It's the dealerships fault.

Naw, those are stock black side moldings. The dealership was kind enough to paint the doorjamb that had scraped. I'm a relatively happy camper now, especially with the CAI installed.
