Oil Burning

Is it normal for our cars to burn a quart of oil (Mobile 1 synthetic) in under 2 months?

The dipstick marks are to be read cold, ; i.e., after the car has been sitting for atleast a good hour to allow the oil to flow down from the head and back into the pan. If you read it warm, or after driving even for 1 minute, it will seem inadequate.

It is normal for the car to burn some oil. How many miles does your car have on the clock and how many miles were driven during this 2 month period? You may want to also look at the back of the valve cover to see if there are any minor leaks around the gasket. I've seen quite a few Si's having minor leaks in that area.

3/4 a qt in 2300 miles. Normal during break-in. It it's leaking you would smell it or see in on the floor.

Not in the case of the minor leak around the gasket on the back side of the valve cover. The minor leak drips down and burns away when it hits the hot block. Like I said though, it is a minor leak...One that most would never notice.

I agree...but a qt in two months is alot to be dripping.

True...It does not leak anywhere near that much. I just wanted to point it out. No one knows if one quart in two months is excessive or not until the OP states how many miles are on the car and how many miles were driven during the two month period.

The PCV also recycles crankcase gunk into the intake manifold to reburn during the next combustion cycle. This recycled gunk burns more oil than the little bit that sneaks past the gasket on the valve cover.

Mine doesn't burn any oil...the mark is still above the top notch on the dipstick...but then again mine is an 07 LX so maybe the Si's are different.
